No. 1 as a corporation in its human and business practices

  



Being the biggest, the largest, being No. 1 in size is the vision of many but there are few who could say it publicly that we would want to be No. 1 in quality and No. 1 as a corporation in our human & business practices and fewer who live by it. Here is an excerpt from RNT’s interview in HT in Sep 2004.

What would make me really happy is to have people say that we are a Group that provides value for money and that our customer sensitivity is very high. In other words, I have no desire to strive to necessarily be No. 1 in size. But being No. 1 in quality and No.1 as a corporation in its human and business practices would be really great.

In the quest to be on the top, be No.1 or the biggest, many business houses have failed or fallen. Being No. 1 in size is an outcome. Any outcome is dependent on many factors – some within and several outside your control. But working on factors like quality, working on human and business practices, is all in your control. Focus on the journey is the message.

 

Fixation on outcomes not in our control can lead to compromises many a time. These compromises are a result of emotionally un-intelligent decisions. On the other hand working on outcomes and factors within your control, isn’t possible unless one is mentally conscious, creative and fairly emotionally intelligent.
